On this Live Pearl Harvest Experience, you’ll get up up and personal with a real Pinctada maxima oyster from Broome’s Willie Creek Pearl Farm during this 30-minute adventure. Learn how the anatomy of this amazing creature interacts with the natural elements of the Kimberley environment to produce such a magnificent diamond.
As the oyster is opened to expose the pearl inside, you will watch and hold your breath. Because the quality is in Mother Nature’s hands, the pearl shown that day might be worth anywhere from $500 to $5,000 (or even more!). Seeing a stunning pearl being extracted from its oyster is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Pearls have five main characteristics. These virtues will be taught, as well as how we use them to value pearls, and you will have the opportunity to try your hand at valuing some pearls yourself!
Admire gorgeous pearl jewellery and learn about different sorts of pearls from around the world. This is a once-in-a-lifetime Western Australian experience that should not be missed.
Pinctada maxima, the world’s largest pearl-producing oyster, is native to the waters of North-West Australia, and is one of the reasons why the region’s pearl farms can produce the world’s most costly pearls.
